John Kerry to visit Algeria amid electoral campaign
US State Department Wednesday announced that its Secretary John Kerry is expected to pay a visit to Algeria as a first stop then to Morocco as part of a vive-day-tour starting from April 1st.
Kerry’s visit comes as the electoral campaign was launched in Algeria.
According to spokesman for the US State Department Jen Psaki, Kerry will meet officials in Algeria.
He was supposed to pay a visit the region in last February but it was postponed due to US-Iranian rapprochement.
Foreign ministry said on its official website the US State Secretary will meet his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra to talk about strategic aspects between the two countries as part of a dialogue launched in October 2012.
Talks will also deal with the reinforcement of American cooperation with Algeria about regional and bilateral issues relating to political and security developments.
Kerry will also meet interim prime minister Youcef Yousfi and President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
